Microsoft Edge gets the ability to share URLs via a QR code. Reddit users spot the feature in the Chromium version of the browser. It should appear in a stable version next month.
The option is available in the Canary version of Chrome. When enabled, Microsoft Edge displays the text ‘QR-code’ in the URL bar, while it’s also between the menu options. Next, users can have the browser generate a QR-code, which can then be scanned again with, for example, a smartphone.
The function is also included in Chrome Canary, but in both browsers generating the QR-code doesn’t work yet. The function allows users to share pages more easily without having to forward a URL. Microsoft will release the stable version of the Chromium version of Edge next month, February 2020.
