If you visit a website with your iPhone, iPad or Android device you will most likely be redirected to the mobile-friendly version of some website.
The mobile-friendly version is, for example, a responsive website that adapts to your iOS or Android device or an AMP – Accelerated Mobile Page.
However, if the website does not display properly on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, it is possible to ask Safari, Google Chrome, or Firefox to request the desktop version of the website.
The desktop version of a website offers you the same layout as users who would visit the website with a desktop computer.
The appearance of the website can, therefore, change if you request the desktop version via the Safari, Google Chrome or Firefox web browser on your phone or tablet.
How do I request the desktop version of a website?
In this article, I show you how you can get the desktop version of any website with Safari, Google Chrome or Firefox.
When you do a request to view the desktop version of a website that is responsive this does not work.
If a website is responsive, the website layout is identical to the desktop version, the only difference is the layout adapts to the screen size of the device.
