Remove Novo Optimizer – Removal Instruction – Windows 7, 8, and Windows 10

Novo Optimizer is a Potentially Unwanted Program. Novo Optimizer infiltrates your systems during installation of other software, for this reason, Novo Optimizer is known as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP).

The ugly side of Potentially Unwanted Programs is they are installed with Adware. You should scan your computer with comprehensive anti-malware software to clean your computer from these infections.

Potentially Unwanted Programs should be removed as fast as possible. PUPs are known to collect Personal Identifiable Information and display intrusive advertisements while surfing the web.

The collection of Personal Identifiable Information, such as your IP-address, your location and browser history, can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.

Novo-Optimizer-bundle-installationWe took the main executable from location: C:\Program Files\Novo (novoone.exe) Novo Optimizer and submitted the sample for analyzing at virustotal.com. This analyze gave the following results. There was only one antivirus engine detecting the sample as Trojan.Win64.CoinMiner. We have our doubts about the detection.

The file novoone.exe is an x64 executable and signed by Fastspin Appliances Private Limited which is a company in India and promoted as a “Universal battery optimizer”.

The file novoone.exe is started by a Windows Service named “NovoOpt” with the description “Novo Optimization Service” and listens at UDP port 49965 for connection.

In their EULA we found the following content “Using Your Computer Novo Optimizer may use your computer hardware for doing calculations which are essentials for it functioning. Novo Optimizer can also send results of any calculations/data to the author through Internet.”.

This behavior might explain the “CoinMiner” detection from Ikarus Antivirus.
