How to remove Pro-web.net virus – Step by Step guide

Pro-web.net is a scam website. Pro-web.net website sends push notifications through your web browser. The push notifications sent by Pro-web.net will appear as advertising pop-ups on your device.

Pro-web.net

The Pro-web.net ads are based on your browser history and are distributed through a number of websites on the internet. These are generally websites that use malicious ad networks to generate revenue using malicious ads.

More and more websites use rogue ad networks that display the Pro-web.net pop-up ads in your browser. In most cases, you have accepted the Pro-web.net ads in your browser if you are misled by websites claiming that you need to click the Allow button on your browser to watch a video or accept a captcha form to continue.

Pro-web.net is a social engineering trick that deceives users. In this article, I will give you instructions per web browser on how to remove the push notifications permission in your browser to stop the Pro-web.net advertisements on your computer, mobile device, or tablet.

I do recommend to scan your computer for adware. Pro-web.net redirects the browser to adware related websites, make sure your device isn’t infected adware by scanning it with Malwarebytes.

Here are a few signs of adware on your device.

  • Pop-ups show on your device where they shouldn’t be.
  • Web browser popups appear which recommend fake browser or flash player updates and other misleading websites.
  • Your browser’s default homepage has changed without your permission.
  • Other adware applications might get installed without your consciousness.
  • Website hyperlinks redirect to webpages different from what you expected.
  • Web pages that you frequently visit are not displaying correctly.

Computer information collected by adware applications is sold to various misleading advertising services and is later abused for revenue purposes.

Adware uses a sneaky method to either disguise itself as a legitimate program or installs as a third party offer within another software program.

If you have accepted the push notifications from the Pro-web.net pop-up and gave push notification permission to Pro-web.net, you should remove the Pro-web.net notification from your browser permission first. In the instructions below I explain per web browser how to remove the push notification permissions.

The instructions for EDGE are totally wrong. After clicking “Settings” there is no option to click “Advanced Setting”. You don’t explain clearly why I have to scroll down to “Settings”, and then scroll further down to “Advanced Settings”, which does not exist (in that same menu). Presumably, then you want me to click “Settings” and then scroll to “Advanced Settings” in the next window, but it does not exist there either.
