Remove Picexa ads (Virus Removal Guide)

Remove Picexa

Picexa is a Potentially Unwanted Program also known as “adware”, which adds itself, mostly without notice of the end-user on Internet browsers when users downloaded free software from websites that promote bundled custom build installers. Developers of this adware use a dubious software marketing method named bundling to install the Picexa adware inadvertently without their permission.

What does Picexa do on my computer ?

Adware and Potentially Unwanted Programs like Picexa can display advertisements and may be considered dangerous for your privacy.

After successful infiltration, this add-on generates intrusive online advertisements as “Ads by Picexa“, “Ad by Picexa” sponsored links, banner, interstitial, videos, coupons, and in-text advertisements and possible audio advertisements.

Clicking on these third party ads can lead to high-risk malware infections. Besides, this plugin tracks clients Internet searching action by recording Urls of sites went by, pursuit terms entered into web indexes, IP locations, and other data, which might be generally identifiable.

This can bring problems of genuine security issues or fraud. There is a chance that clicking these advertisements will redirect you to possible adware or malware infections.

How to prevent Picexa in the future ?

Do not click too fast through the installation process offering a “Next” or “OK” button, as you will agree to software you do not want to install. If the installer offers a Advanced or Custom button, select it to find out if there is any other unwanted software offered and installed during the installation process. It goes without saying that you should not agree to software software that you don’t want.

Also remember to check pre populated checkboxes during the installation, preview them before clicking to the [Next] window of the installer.

Prevent third-party installation software. These predefined installation software often contain additional software we classify as adware or Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs / PUAs).

All tricks to make sure their software is installed is called Dark patterns, these are user interfaces designed to trick the user into installing PUPs and are used more and more these days to make software valuable for its developer(s).

While these tricks might seem obvious to the most, many new or inexperienced users fall victim to these tricks and end up installing unwanted software.
