Internet Explorer

For Internet Explorer is it advised to reset your browser to default settings. When we tested the Secure Web Adware the BHO (Browser Helper Object) for Internet Explorer was managed. This means it cannot be removed as the remove button is grayed out.

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. goto “wrench” icon in top right corner
  3. Select Manage Addons
  4. Goto tab Toolbars and Extensions
  5. Select Secure Web
  6. Click Disable button

Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. type in the address bar: http://chrome:extensions or (Goto the 3 stripes in the top right corner, select Settings and on the left side: Extensions)
  3. Remove Secure Web by clicking the trash can icon, right next to the browser extension.
  4. Restart Google Chrome

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox
  2. Goto the Big Orange Firefox button in top left corner, Select Add-ons

AdwCleaner must restart the computer to complete the removal process. The report will be opened on the next reboot.

After the reboot a logfile will open. The logfile in Windows XP and Windows 7 will open once the desktop is started. To open the logfile in Windows 8 you need to switch to the Desktop modus by selecting windows key + d on your keyboard.
If you want to check the AdwCleaner log, you can find the report log in your system drive, Adwcleaner folder (for example: C:\adwcleaner)

  7. Click Reset button

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Goto the three stripes in the right top corner (menu)
  3. Select Settings
  4. Scroll down to the end of the page, search for + Show advanced settings
  5. Scroll down once again to the end of the page and click Reset browser settings button
  6. Click Reset once more

Reset Mozilla Firefox to default settings

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox
  2. Goto the orange Firefox button in the top left
  3. Select Help > Troubleshooting information
  4. Select Reset Firefox
  5. Confirm Reset Firefox
  6. Select Finish
  7. Mozilla Firefox will automatically restart
