How to reset the homepage for every browser




Reset default homepage

If you do not want to reset your complete browser settings it is advised to only reset your default homepage. Follow instructions to replace your default homepage to a homepage of your choice, in browsers; Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. goto “wrench” icon in top right corner
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Tab: General
  5. Replace the hijacked homepage with one of your choice, for example: google.com

Restore Default Search Engine – Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. goto “wrench” icon in top right corner
  3. Select Manage addons
  4. Goto Search Providers
  5. Right click on Bing as select Set as Default
  6. Right click on the Hijacked Homepage and Select Remove

Google Chrome

Restore homepage – Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Goto the three stripes in the right top corner (menu)
  3. Select Settings
  4. Goto header: On Startup
  5. Click blue link: Set Pages, behind ‘Open a specific page or set of pages’
  6. Remove the Hijacked Homepage by clicking the x icon.
  7. Enter a new homepage of your choice in textbox ‘Enter Url…

Restore Default Search Engine – Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Goto the three stripes in the right top corner (menu)
  3. Select Settings
  4. Goto header: Search
  5. Click button: Manage search engines
  6. Select Google.com from the list, hover over it and click blue button Make Default
  7. Hover over the hijacked homepage and click the x to remove this Hijacked homepage from the list.

Mozilla Firefox

Restore default homepage – Mozilla firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox
  2. Goto the orange Firefox button in the top left
  3. Select Options
  4. Tab: General
  5. Replace the hijacked homepage with one of your choice, press OK

Reset browser settings

For a hijacked homepage or adware problem, it is advised to restore your browser to default setting. As this browser hijacker is installed by many different applications. Reset Internet Explorer to default settings

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. goto “wrench” icon in top right corner
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Goto tab Advanced
  5. Select Reset button
  6. Enable Delete personal Settings
  7. Click Reset button
  8. Restart Internet Explorer

Reset Google Chrome to default settings

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Goto the three stripes in the right top corner (menu)
  3. Select Settings
  4. Scroll down to the end of the page, search for + Show advanced settings
  5. Scroll down once again to the end of the page and click Reset browser settings button
  6. Click Reset once more

Reset Mozilla Firefox to default settings

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox
  2. Goto the orange Firefox button in the top left
  3. Select Help > Troubleshooting information
  4. Select Reset Firefox
  5. Confirm Reset Firefox
  6. Select Finish
  7. Mozilla Firefox will automatically restart
